Pilot Project and Market Research on Sustainable PV Powered Shrimp Farm in West Nusa Tenggara

Project year: -

A Korean energy company was interested in investing in a carbon free shrimp farm in Indonesia. The pilot project covered a 5 kWp Solar PV system and a solar-powered oxygen generator to support a part of a shrimp farm operation. The Korean company, CompanyWe has been communicating with an Indonesian company, UD Mumbul Sari Aquaculture (MSA) to conduct the pilot project in its shrimp farm in Lombok, Indonesia. This pilot project was to set an experiment of a solar powered oxygen generator in a circular shrimp pond. The experiment has been implemented from early December 2021 to the end of January 2022. The result of the experiment compared to a shrimp pond without an intervention. In conducting this pilot project, CompanyWe is funded by the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) and supported by THE Energy, local PV EPC, and us as a local team from Indonesia. This pilot project was also accompanied by a market research, aiming to understand:

  • Shrimp farm business operation and its stakeholders in Lombok
  • Potential follow-up actions after the pilot project
  • Support from local governments
